The Phineas Sprague House is a historic Federal-style home built in 1798, near Gooch Park, representing the early Sprague family settlement that dates back to the 1650s. It replaced an earlier 1692 homestead and was a gathering spot for local Minutemen during the Revolutionary War, including Phineas Sprague (1725-1805), who was called to arms on April 19, 1775, to Watertown under the command of Capt. Benjamin Blaney on orders of Col. Gardner.
