Welcome to the Melrose Tree Project
Awareness
The primary beneficiary of this effort will be the tree’s of Melrose. By bringing together the city of and community of Melrose to celebrate the loss of one of Melrose’s most significant tree’s it helps to elevate awareness of the importance of our trees. The website will educate the community to the major tree’s of Melrose and help develop activism to take care of newly planted trees and find locations for new trees to be planted.
A public group “Trees of Melrose Committee” will be formed to join in partnership with the City of Melrose to create a memorial to the Lewis Monk poplar. The memorial will both be a remembrance and a piece of art that the community can enjoy. This piece of art will be connected via a walking tour and website that allows the community to marvel at the amazing trees in Melrose, mourn the passing of the poplar tree and potentially become active supporters of our trees and ecosystem.
