Cones: Four section pine cone with scales that aligned with axis. (Most pine cones have staggered scales)

Needles: in a flat fan. With needles that are paired and opposite each other

Bark: smooth/fibrous with shades of red and gray

Deciduous conifer: one of a very few varieties of pine trees (conifers) that looses all its leaves in the fall (deciduous)

Location: Northeast corner Common Park, Melrose MA

What it is not:

Torreya californica (needles go all around the stem. These needles are flat and opposite each other)

Larch (needs are not in clusters)
